Judges 2:1–3

Israel’s Disobedience

Now the angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to jBochim. And he said, I brought you up from Egypt and brought you into the land that I swore to give to your fathers. I said, kI will never break my covenant with you, land you shall make no covenant with the inhabitants of this land; myou shall break down their altars. But you have not obeyed my voice. What is this you have done? So now I say, nI will not drive them out before you, but they shall become othorns in your sides, and their gods shall be a snare to you.

1 Samuel 3:4–14

Then the Lord called Samuel, and he said, Here I am! and ran to Eli and said, Here I am, for you called me. But he said, I did not call; lie down again. So he went and lay down.

And the Lord called again, Samuel! and Samuel arose and went to Eli and said, Here I am, for you called me. But he said, I did not call, my son; lie down again. Now Samuel did not yet know the Lord, and the word of the Lord had not yet been revealed to him.

And the Lord called Samuel again the third time. And he arose and went to Eli and said, Here I am, for you called me. Then Eli perceived that the Lord was calling the boy. Therefore Eli said to Samuel, Go, lie down, and if he calls you, you shall say, Speak, Lord, for your servant hears. So Samuel went and lay down in his place.

10 And the Lord came and stood, calling as at other times, Samuel! Samuel! And Samuel said, Speak, for your servant hears. 11 Then the Lord said to Samuel, Behold, I am about to do a thing in Israel kat which the two ears of everyone who hears it will tingle. 12 On that day I will fulfill against Eli lall that I have spoken concerning his house, from beginning to end. 13 lAnd I declare to him that I am about to punish his house forever, for the iniquity that he knew, mbecause his sons were blaspheming God,1 nand he did not restrain them. 14 Therefore I swear to the house of Eli othat the iniquity of Eli’s house shall not be atoned for by sacrifice or offering forever.

Numbers 12:6

And he said, Hear my words: If there is a prophet among you, I the Lord make myself known to him rin a vision; I speak with him sin a dream.

Exodus 33:18–23

18 Moses said, Please pshow me your glory. 19 And he said, qI will make all my goodness pass before you and will proclaim before you my name The Lord. And rI will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will show mercy on whom I will show mercy. 20 But, he said, you cannot see my face, for sman shall not see me and live. 21 And the Lord said, Behold, there is a place by me where you shall stand on the rock, 22 and while my glory passes by I will put you in a tcleft of the rock, and I will ucover you with my hand until I have passed by. 23 Then I will take away my hand, and you shall see my back, but my face shall vnot be seen.
