The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint. From the sole of the foot even to the head, there is no soundness in it, but bruises and sores and raw wounds; they are not pressed out or bound up or softened with oil.—We have all become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment.—I know that nothing good dwells in me, that is, in my flesh.—You were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.—All glorious is the princess in her chamber.—“Perfect through the splendor that I had bestowed on you, declares the Lord God.”—Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us.
“They have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.”—So that he might present the church to himself in splendor, without spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.—You have been filled in him.
Eve… bore Cain, saying, “I have gotten a man with the help of the Lord.”—“Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower with its top in the heavens.”… So the Lord dispersed them.—So Lot chose for himself all the Jordan Valley…. The Jordan Valley was well watered everywhere like the garden of the Lord…. Now the men of Sodom were wicked, great sinners against the Lord.—And I applied my heart to know wisdom and to know madness and folly. I perceived that this also is but a striving after wind. For in much wisdom is much vexation, and he who increases knowledge increases sorrow.—I made great works. I built houses and planted vineyards for myself…. I also gathered for myself silver and gold…. Then I considered all that my hands had done and the toil I had expended in doing it, and behold, all was vanity and a striving after wind.—“If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink.”—He satisfies the longing soul, and the hungry soul he fills with good things. Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
6 vWe have all become like one who is unclean,
and all our righteous deeds are like a polluted garment.
wWe all fade like a leaf,
18 For I know that nothing good dwells ain me, that is, in my flesh. For I have the desire to do what is right, but not the ability to carry it out.
11 And ysuch were some of you. But zyou were washed, ayou were sanctified, byou were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God.
13 All glorious is vthe princess in her chamber, with robes interwoven with gold.
14 And uyour renown went forth among the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect through the splendor that I had bestowed on you, declares the Lord God.
17 Let the xfavor1 of the Lord our God be upon us,
and establish ythe work of our hands upon us;
yes, establish the work of our hands!
[1] 90:17
14 I said to him, “Sir, you know.” And he said to me, “These are the ones coming out of jthe great tribulation. kThey have washed their robes and lmade them white min the blood of the Lamb.
27 so kthat he might present the church to himself in splendor, lwithout spot or wrinkle or any such thing, that she might be holy and without blemish.1
[1] 5:27
13 for my people have committed two evils:
the fountain of mliving waters,
4 Now Adam knew Eve his wife, and she conceived and bore Cain, saying, “I have gotten1 a man with the help of the Lord.”
[1] 4:1
4 Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city and a tower bwith its top in the heavens, and let us make a name for ourselves, lest we be dispersed over the face of the whole earth.”
8 So ethe Lord dispersed them from there over the face of all the earth, and they left off building the city.
11 So Lot chose for himself all the Jordan Valley, and Lot journeyed east. Thus they separated from each other.
10 And Lot lifted up his eyes and saw that the jJordan Valley was well watered everywhere like kthe garden of the Lord, like the land of Egypt, in the direction of lZoar. (This was before the Lord mdestroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.)
13 Now the men of Sodom nwere wicked, great sinners against the Lord.
17 And I uapplied my heart to know wisdom and to know vmadness and folly. I perceived that this also is but ra striving after wind.
18 For win much wisdom is much vexation,
8 I also gathered for myself silver and ggold and the treasure of hkings and iprovinces. I got jsingers, both men and women, and many kconcubines,1 the delight of the sons of man.
[1] 2:8
11 Then I considered all that my hands had done and the toil I had expended in doing it, and behold, all was ovanity and a striving after wind, and there was nothing pto be gained under the sun.
37 yOn the last day of the feast, the great day, Jesus stood up and cried out, z“If anyone thirsts, let him acome to me and drink.
