“You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right, for so I am.”
“It is enough for the disciple to be like his teacher, and the servant like his master.”—“If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they kept my word, they will also keep yours.”—“I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they are not of the world, just as I am not of the world.”
Consider him who endured from sinners such hostility against himself, so that you may not grow weary or fainthearted. In your struggle against sin you have not yet resisted to the point of shedding your blood.
Let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.—Since therefore Christ suffered in the flesh, arm yourselves with the same way of thinking.
“Oh that they had such a mind as this always, to fear me and to keep all my commandments, that it might go well with them and with their descendants forever!”
“Your heart is not right before God.”—For the mind that is set on the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to God's law; indeed, it cannot. Those who are in the flesh cannot please God.
They gave themselves first to the Lord.—And every work that [Hezekiah] undertook,… seeking his God, he did with all his heart, and prospered.
Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life…. Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord.—As servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart, rendering service with a good will as to the Lord and not to man.
I will run in the way of your commandments when you enlarge my heart!
