22  “How long, O ^asimple ones, will you love being simple?

How long will ^bscoffers delight in their scoffing

and fools ^chate knowledge?

34  Toward the ^cscorners he ^dis scornful,

^ebut to the humble he gives favor.¹

29  Condemnation is ready for ^rscoffers,

and ^xbeating for the backs of fools.

24  ^f“Scoffer” is the name of the arrogant, haughty man

who acts with arrogant pride.

8  ^oScoffers set a city aflame,

but the wise turn away wrath.

14  Therefore hear the word of the Lord, you ^oscoffers,

who rule this people in Jerusalem!
