11 And many ^ofalse prophets will arise ^pand lead many astray.

24 For ^gfalse christs and ^hfalse prophets will arise and ⁱperform great signs and wonders, ^hso as to lead astray, if possible, even the elect.

1 “If a prophet or ^qa dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, 2 and ^rthe sign or wonder that he tells you comes to pass, and if he says, ‘Let us go after other gods,’ which you have not known, ‘and let us serve them,’ 3 you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For the Lord your God ^sis testing you, to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul.

14 And the Lord said to me: “The ^vprophets are prophesying lies in my name. ^wI did not send them, nor did I command them or speak to them. They are prophesying to you a lying vision, ^xworthless divination, and ^ythe deceit of their own minds.

16 Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you, ^cfilling you with vain hopes. ^dThey speak visions of their own minds, not from the mouth of the Lord.

22 ⁿFor false christs and false prophets will arise and ^operform signs and wonders, ^pto lead astray, if possible, ^qthe elect.

26 “Woe to you, ^pwhen all people speak well of you, for ^qso their fathers did to ^rthe false prophets.

6 When they had gone through the whole island as far as Paphos, they came upon a certain ^zmagician, ^aa Jewish false prophet named Bar-Jesus.

False Prophets and Teachers

1 But ^mfalse prophets also arose among the people, ⁿjust as there will be false teachers among you, who will ^osecretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master ^pwho bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction.

Test the Spirits

1 Beloved, ^tdo not believe every spirit, but ^utest the spirits to see whether they are from God, for ^vmany ^wfalse prophets ^xhave gone out into the world.
