12 And he ^rdreamed, and behold, there was a ladder¹ set up on the earth, and the top of it reached to heaven. And behold, ^sthe angels of God were ascending and descending on it!

19 He called the name of that place ^eBethel,¹ but the name of the city was Luz at the first.

9 God appeared¹ to Jacob again, when he came from Paddan-aram, and blessed him. 10 And God said to him, “Your name is Jacob; ^mno longer shall your name be called Jacob, but ⁿIsrael shall be your name.” So he called his name Israel.

15 So Jacob called the name of the place where God had spoken with him ^uBethel.
