The People Confess Their Sin

1 ^jWhile Ezra prayed and ^kmade confession, weeping and ^lcasting himself down ^mbefore the house of God, a very great assembly of men, women, and children, gathered to him out of Israel, for the people wept bitterly.

11 Now then ^amake confession to the Lord, the God of your fathers and do his will. ^bSeparate yourselves from the peoples of the land and from the foreign wives.”

4 I prayed to the Lord my God and ^hmade confession, saying, ⁱ“O Lord, the ⁱgreat and awesome God, who ^jkeeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments,

8 Bear fruit ^xin keeping with repentance.

32 ⁱI have not come to call the righteous ^jbut sinners ^kto repentance.”

10 For ^xgodly grief produces a repentance that leads to salvation without regret, whereas ^yworldly grief produces death.

9 ^uThe Lord is not slow to fulfill his promise ^vas some count slowness, but ^wis patient toward you,^{1 x}not wishing that any should perish, but ^ythat all should reach repentance.
