Deuteronomy 14:26–27

26 and spend the money for whatever you desireoxen or sheep or wine or strong drink, whatever your appetite craves. And byou shall eat there before the Lord your God and rejoice, you and your household. 27 And you shall not neglect fthe Levite who is within your towns, for ghe has no portion or inheritance with you.


Psalm 104:14–15

14  You cause ithe grass to grow for the livestock

and jplants for man to cultivate,

that he may bring forth kfood from the earth

15  and lwine to gladden the heart of man,

moil to make his face shine

and bread to nstrengthen man’s heart.


Esther 5:1–8

Esther Prepares a Banquet

yOn the third day Esther put on her royal robes and stood in zthe inner court of the king’s palace, in front of the king’s quarters, while the king was sitting on his royal throne inside the throne room opposite the entrance to the palace. And when the king saw Queen Esther standing in the court, ashe won favor in his sight, band he held out to Esther the golden scepter that was in his hand. Then Esther approached and touched the tip of the scepter. And the king said to her, What is it, Queen Esther? What is your request? It shall be given you, even cto the half of my kingdom. And Esther said, If it please the king,1 let the king and Haman come today to a feast that I have prepared for the king. Then the king said, Bring Haman quickly, so that we may do as Esther has asked. So the king and Haman came to the feast that Esther had prepared. dAnd as they were drinking wine after the feast, the king said to Esther, eWhat is your wish? It shall be granted you. And what is your request? cEven to the half of my kingdom, it shall be fulfilled.2 Then Esther answered, My wish and my request is: fIf I have found favor in the sight of the king, and if it please the king3 to grant my wish and fulfill my request, let the king and Haman come to gthe feast that I will prepare for them, and tomorrow I will do as the king has said.


Genesis 14:18–20

18 And tMelchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. (He was upriest of vGod Most High.) 19 And he blessed him and said,

wBlessed be Abram by God Most High,

xPossessor1 of heaven and earth;

20  and blessed be God Most High,

who has delivered your enemies into your hand!

And Abram gave him ya tenth of everything.


1 Corinthians 11:23–26

23 For xI received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that ythe Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, 24 and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, This is my body, which is for1 you. Do this in remembrance of me.2 25 In the same way also he took the cup, after supper, saying, This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me. 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death zuntil he comes.


Proverbs 31:6–7

Give strong drink to the one who nis perishing,

and wine to othose in bitter distress;1

plet them drink and forget their poverty

and remember their misery no more.
