Deuteronomy 32:8–9

When the Most High agave to the nations their inheritance,

when he bdivided mankind,

he fixed the borders1 of the peoples

according to the number of the sons of God.2

But the Lord’s portion is his people,

Jacob his allotted heritage.


Joshua 14:1–2

The Inheritance West of the Jordan

These are the inheritances that the people of Israel received in the land of Canaan, which lEleazar the priest and Joshua the son of Nun and the heads of the fathers’ houses of the tribes of the people of Israel gave them to inherit. Their inheritance was mby lot, just as the Lord had commanded by the hand of Moses for the nine and one-half tribes.
