27 Then he took his oldest son who was to reign in his place ^dand offered him for a burnt offering on the wall. And there came great wrath against Israel. And they withdrew from him and returned to their own land.

3 but he walked in the way of the kings of Israel. ^zHe even burned his son as an offering,^{1 a}according to the despicable practices of the nations whom the Lord drove out before the people of Israel.

6 ^gAnd he burned his son as an offering¹ and ^hused fortune-telling and ⁱomens and dealt ^jwith mediums and with necromancers. He did much evil in the sight of the Lord, provoking him to anger.

10 And he defiled ^pTopheth, which is ^qin the Valley of the Son of Hinnom, ^rthat no one might burn his son or his daughter as an offering to ^sMolech.¹

21 You shall not give any of your children to ^eoffer them¹ to ^fMolech, and so ^gprofane the name of your God: I am the Lord.
